The Revolution Will Not Be Televised

Gil Scott-Heron, the legendary and sometimes controversial artist of spoken-word, jazz, soul and more in the 70's and 80's, released a fascinating new album called "I'm New Here" earlier this year.
So, this week, a flashback to the seminal track, "The Revolution Will Not Be Televised," - which inspired a whole generation of hip-hop artists, poets, and more - as well as two pretty incredible re-imaginings side by side with their originals, Robert Johnson's classic old blues track, and a soulful motown gem from Bobby Bland.

Playlist
1- gil scott-heron - the revolution will not be televised (1971)
2- robert johnson - me and the devil blues (1937)
3- gil scott-heron - me and the devil (2010)
4- bobby "blue" bland - i'll take care of you (1959)
5- gil scott-heron - i'll take care of you (2010)

An Ode to Eyjafjallajokull

Thank you, Eyjafjallajokull, for putting us wee humans back in our place.

In honor of our volcanic friend, I'll be playing only Icelandic music until (if) I find away to return once again to North America. :) Fortunately for all of us, Iceland has turned out some great, fascinating music over the years. Check out these good ones... green grass of tunnel has been one of my favorites for a long time.

Bonus: one of my favorite "stranded" stories so far

Playlist
1- sigur rós - sæglópur (icelandic for "lost at sea") - crash overdrive remix
2- sugarcubes - hit
3- múm - green grass of tunnel
