Inspiración

Rodrigo Y Gabriela produce amazing sounds from two guitars, with a fantastic live show if you get a chance to check them out. Their album "11:11" was dedicated to 11 different artists who have influenced them - and there's nothing this podcaster loves more than exploring musical influences! So check out three tracks from the album alongside three influential and distinctly different artists. Enjoy, and let me know what you think!

Playlist

1- rodrigo y gabriela - buster voodoo (dedicated to jimi hendrix)
2- the jimi hendrix experience - crosstown traffic (1968)
classic psychedelic rock that needs no introduction

3- rodrigo y gabriela - triveni (dedicated to le trio joubran)
4- le trio joubran - majaz (2007)

Pixelated

A good mix this week, on a very random theme. Think two-dimensional, low-resolution spinning blue hedgehogs or strange Italian plumbers catching mushrooms and riding dinosaurs. That's right, it's video game music. Not really, actually - just tunes that are reminiscent of such things. Enjoy. And if anyone knows where I can find a good version of Pong, please do let me know.

Playlist
1- minikon - super and bright
2- liam and me - call the cops
3- the capricorns - the new sound
4- crystal castles - untrust us

Listener Request: Cycle Share

London, like many cities around the world, has just launched a massive cycle sharing scheme.
Each of the tunes this week starts with a particular rhythm that reminds me of spinning bicycle wheels softly whooshing past sidewalks and parks and shops. Think of each song as another person taking the bike on a brand new adventure around town.
Thanks to Justin for this great suggestion!

Playlist
1- andrew bird - action/adventure
2- jose gonzalez - hand on your heart
3- fleet foxes - mykonos
4- the magic numbers - this is a song

Alternate Universe

Some cover songs are simply interesting twists on the originals. Others take a song to a new dimension, reimagining it into something entirely different. This week, four unique reimaginings of some old school classics. Let me know what you think of these, and let me know your own favorite covers!

Playlist
1- discovery - i want you back
2- schneider TM - the light 3000

Something in the Swedish sea air seems to produce particularly prolific pop musicians with their own special quirky styles. Here are three great ones from the land of lingonberries.

2- jens lekman - the end of the world is bigger than love
